THE DOUG LUCAS AWARD

Date enacted: June 29, 1997

The ASCLD/LAB Board may periodically appoint a five person ASCLD/LAB Award Committee consisting of five Delegate assembly members, at least one of whom must be a Board member. The Award Committee shall decide whether to select a Lucas Award nominee. The Award Committee shall unanimously agree on one nominee and present that name, in writing, to the ASCLD/LAB Board which shall designate the awardee by a majority vote of the Board. No more than one awardee may be selected in a 12 month period. The Lucas Award need not be given annually.

The Nominee shall be a well regarded member of the forensic science community who has made unique and/or highly significant contributions to the crime laboratory accreditation process.

The Award Committee may use any criteria it feels appropriate to identify nominees and the criteria shall be submitted to the ASCLD/LAB Board when the name of the nominee is presented.

The awardee shall be honored with a plaque at the annual meeting of the Delegate Assembly.
