Compliance/Conformance Monitoring
To retain accreditation for a full five-year term, a laboratory is required to continue meeting the standards under which it was accredited. The principal means by which ASCLD/LAB monitors the compliance or conformance with the accreditation standards are the Annual Accreditation Audit Report, proficiency testing reports submitted by approved test providers and reviewed by proficiency review committees, results of annual surveillance visits in the ASCLD/LAB-International program, and special interim inspections if needed in the Legacy program. Conformance and Compliance monitoring procedures for the respective accreditation programs are detailed under the respective tabs to the left.
When ASCLD/LAB finds that an accredited laboratory has failed to continue operating in compliance with the standards under which the laboratory was accredited, it may become necessary to impose sanctions on the laboratory. The sanctions which may be imposed include probation, suspension of accreditation and revocation of accreditation. The significance of each sanction is discussed under the sanctions tab. |
