Proficiency Review Committee

The Proficiency Review Program (PRP) documents the complete ASCLD/LAB process for conducting the review of external proficiency test results. The PRP is applicable to both the ASCLD/LAB Legacy accreditation program and the ASCLD/LAB-International accreditation program.

To retain accredited status for a full five year term, a laboratory must continue to meet the standards under which it was accredited. One of the means by which ASCLD/LAB monitors compliance is by reviewing proficiency testing reports submitted by approved test providers. The PRP program outlines the roles and responsibilities of accredited laboratories, Proficiency Review Committees (PRC), approved test providers, the ASCLD/LAB Proficiency Test Program Manager, and others in carrying out the elements of the proficiency review process.

Proficiency Review Committees are important to the success of the program. For each forensic discipline accredited by ASCLD/LAB, the Board has established a PRC and appointed a Chair for each. Current Chair appointments are as follows:
