This course has been designed to assist calibration laboratory personnel to prepare for ASCLD/LAB–International. ISO/IEC 17025 and ASCLD/LAB–International Supplemental Requirements for Calibration Labs will be reviewed and preparation exercises will be provided. This program will serve to provide the attendees with a better understanding of the types of planning and activities which may be considered in order to prepare for the formal application and external assessment process. This program is designed to supplement internal management practices which a laboratory should have in place to support ASCLD/LAB– International preparation activities. This series of self-paced, web-based courses have been designed to educate forensic laboratory personnel about the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the development of the ISO/IEC 17025 Standard, ASCLD/LAB and the ASCLD/LAB–International accreditation program as well as provide tips for how to read and interpret ISO/IEC 17025. In addition, the course will provide information regarding the planning and activities to consider when preparing for formal application for an external assessment. 8 hours Web-Based Training Course
This cumulative course will introduce the corrective action process and the basic steps for performing an effective root cause analysis.  Participants will evaluate the elements of ISO/IEC 17025 related to the Corrective Action requirements with a brief discussion of an evaluation of the significance of nonconforming work. The philosophy, purpose and benefits of an effective root cause analysis will be discussed and the basic steps of root cause analysis outlined. Participants will learn the process of asking ‘why’ at least five times to get to the source of the non-conformance and why ‘blaming the individual’ is missing the point of the root cause analysis process. Web-Based Training Courses
Three cumulative live web-based courses will introduce the general and foundational concepts of Measurement Traceability, Measurement Assurance and Measurement Uncertainty. This training is applicable for all staff in a forensic testing or calibration laboratory. Each web course is 2 hours in length and will be scheduled during general business hours to accommodate a majority of time zones. Learn more
