Course description:  This course has been designed to assist crime laboratory personnel to prepare for ASCLD/LAB – International.  ISO 17025:2005 and ASCLD/LAB – International Supplemental Requirements for Testing Labs will be reviewed and preparation exercises will be provided.  This program will serve to provide the attendees with a better understanding of the types of planning and activities which may be considered in order to prepare for the formal application and external assessment process.  This program is designed to supplement internal management practices which a laboratory should have in place to support ASCLD/LAB – International preparation activities.  Attendees familiar with the ASCLD/LAB Legacy program will be provided with opportunities to compare internal laboratory activities involved with each program.  An attendance certificate will be mailed to the student.

Fee structure: The cost of the course is $425* (course based in United States, additional charges may apply for courses outside the United States).  This fee will cover the cost of registration, all course materials (including a take home copy of ISO 17025:2005), training workshops, and attendance certificates.  Attendees will be responsible for any travel, lodging and meal expenses.  Lunches and breaks will be “on your own” and are not included in the fee.

Class size:  A minimum of 15 students, and a maximum of 36 students.

Payment:  ASCLD/LAB accepts credit card, check or purchase orders.  Tax is not charged for course registration fees.   Fees will only be collected for students whom attend.

Teaching site:  The training location address and logistical information will be provided to registered students.  A list of suggested local lodging will be provided for long distance students, but a block of rooms may not be set aside.

Course structure:  The course will run from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm for the first two days and from 8:00 am to 11:00 am the third day.  One hour will be provided for lunch each day.  Intermittent breaks will be provided to ensure student comfort.  The course is provided in English.  Special arrangements for second language and disability requirements (hearing/sight) are the financial responsibility of the student or their employer, and should be conveyed to the instructor prior to the course.  Some materials can be made available in large print at no additional cost.
